

Detroit encompasses 140 square miles. That's enough space to fit Manhattan, Boston, and San Francisco within its borders. With a 50% decline in population over the last fifty years, vacant neighborhoods have popped up all over the city creating a patch quilt of vast urban prairies. Mayor Dave Bing has proposed a "re-sizing" of the city, which would displace thousands of residents, forcing them to either accept relocation or be cut off from all city services.
